Events for Faculty and Researchers
This workshop series co-sponsored by the Academic Senate, Academic Senate Committee on Library and Scholarly Communication, and Office of Intellectual Property Administration is open to UCLA faculty, researchers, and administrators only.
Data Curation in Action
Wednesday, May 16; 2-3 p.m.
Charles E. Young Research Library Presentation Room
Many people are talking about "data curation," but what exactly does that mean in practice? What kinds of research data are faculty and researchers using? And why are major university libraries, including the UCLA Library, thinking about it? Learn more about data curation and why it may be relevant to you from Chris Johanson, UCLA professor of classics and digital humanities; Tamar Kremer-Sadlik, director of research at the UCLA Center for Everyday Lives of Families; and Carly Strasser, project manager at UC's California Digital Library, who will discuss how they use data in their research and the challenges they face in managing it. After a moderated panel discussion, the panelists will take questions from attendees.
Admission is free, and reservations are required; seating is on a first come basis.
