UCLA Library Copyright Policy on In-Library ReservesPlacement of Materials on In-Library ReserveCampus libraries will place single and/or multiple copies of copyrighted materials received from UCLA instructional faculty and staff on reserve in library units under the following conditions.
Reserve List InstructionsReserve list instructions for faculty and staff include the Reserves Copyright Notice. In accepting copies for reserves, the UCLA Library assumes that any copies submitted for reserve have been made in compliance with UC Policy and Guidelines on the Reproduction of Copyrighted Materials for Teaching and Research (April 1986). Making of Copies for ReserveUCLA Library staff will not photocopy materials for instructional faculty or staff to place on reserve. Disposition of Reserve MaterialsUCLA Library units will, at the end of the period of reserve use, return to instructional faculty or staff all copies of materials that have been placed on reserve. A cover letter reminding faculty of restrictions concerning reuse of photocopied material will be included with all copies returned. Academic Publishing ServiceThe Academic Publishing Service (APS) (A-level Ackerman Union, 310.825.2831) is available to assist faculty with the production of syllabi containing required reading assignments. APS secures permission to reproduce copyrighted material and sells the syllabus to students on a cost-recovery basis. Faculty who make the same reading assignments repeatedly are encouraged to utilize this service. |
